The Trappist experience balances the spiritual, intellectual and physical with a life of steady rhythms. Days are punctuated with frequent prayer and worship, the study of sacred texts, and simple, honest work that sustains our earthly mission. Throughout the day, we gather to pray the psalms as part of the Liturgy of the Hours. We immerse ourselves in scripture through our practice of lectio divina. Our work includes baking fruitcakes and biscotti, maintaining our property, preparing meals, washing dishes – all part of our daily work. We extend our hospitality through our Monastic Heritage Center and our Retreat House, which offers group and individual retreats throughout the year.
Each activity enriches the other, keeping our hands, hearts and minds fully alive—so that we are always ready to listen and respond to God’s call.
